Search Engine Optimization
Search Engine Optimization or so called SEO is still a mystery for many who have not heard about it earlier and also for those who have heard about it but both categories have different questions in their mind about it. Lets start with the first category .
What is Search Engine Optimization (SEO) ?
I had came across this question many a times and honestly when i first heard about SEO this question was the first to knock in my mind.
Well in easy words Search Engine Optimization is a technique or process to improve a website or a webpage rank in search engines like Google,Yahoo, bing etc. Website or webpage rank can be defined as the position of the website in the results of the searchengine related to the website keywords . It’s also a very complex process that requires patience, analysis, careful planning and a long-term approach.
Do I need to bother about Search Engine Optimization ?
Search Engine Optimization is the most misunderstood by the peoples, and potentially the most important to the website value. There are millions upon millions of pages of web content out there – you work hard, build a great site, and then be totally lost in the shuffle, you may get listed but you’ll probably just be added to the bottom of the list unless you use search engine optimization. Suppose someone goes to google and type something that is related to your website/blog but in the search result your website shows up in 4th page so do you expect that the person will navigate upto the 4th page; ofcourse not he will get his requirement before that as internet is now flooded with related topics. SEO is important for each and every website if they expect traffic & revenue.
How does Google ranks a page ?
Google page ranking system uses a uniquely democratic method by using its vast link structure as an indicator of an individual page’s value. In addition Google also interprets a link from page A to page B as a vote, by page A, for page B. But, Google not only looks at the volume of votes, or links a page receives but also analyzes the page that casts the vote. Votes cast by pages that are themselves important weigh more heavily and help to make other pages important. In other words, a PageRank results from a ballot system among all the other pages on the World Wide Web about how important a page is. A hyperlink to a page counts as a vote of support. The PageRank of a page is defined recursively and depends on the number and PageRank metric of all pages that link to it (incoming links). A page that is linked to by many pages with high PageRank receives a high rank itself. If there are no links to a web page there is no support for that page.
Does Search Engine Optimization (SEO) need some payment ?
No, SEO doesn’t cost anything, It’s how you organize and structure your site so that the search engine spiders come to your site and index it so that people can find it easily.
I hope that i am able to throw some light on Search Engine Optimization (SEO)
